Western Section between Châteauguay and Vaudreuil-Dorion
In light of public hearings held in October 1997, in January 1998 the BAPE tabled a positive report pertaining to the completion of the Western Section between Châteauguay and Valleyfield.
In February 1998, the Commission de protection du territoire agricole du Québec gave its authorization for the completion to proceed. The Certificat d’autorisation de realisation issued by the Conseil des ministres followed later, in May 1999.
In May 2004, the governments of Canada and Québec announced the signing of an agreement with regard to funding the work on the completion of Autoroute 30 between Châteauguay and Vaudreuil-Dorion. The first section of this agreement covers joint investments of $21 million to cover studies and other preliminary endeavours with a view to ascertaining public-private partnership interest in this section.
The Ministère began working on the Western Section in July 2006, and the MTQ now owns the majority of the right of way. Nouvelle Autoroute 30 is the private partner that will continue and complete all 42 km of the Western section.
The private partner, Nouvelle Autoroute 30, s.e.n.c. is currently continuing construction of the 42 km Western section.
