Eastern Section, south of Candiac, Delson, and Saint-Constant
In 1998, the ministère des Transports carried out an environmental impact assessment on the completion of the Eastern Section. In June 2002, in light of 12 public meetings, the Bureau d’audiences publiques en environnement (BAPE) filed its report in favour of the southern trajectory for several reasons: road safety and flow, public security, impacts, environment, and cost.
Furthermore, on November 28, 2003, the ministère des Transports held an open house day in Candiac followed by an information and consultation evening to discuss the issues associated with the trajectory.
The work on the Eastern Section began in the Autoroute 15 easement in Candiac, in October 2005.
Jean-Leman Segment of the Eastern Section
In pursuing the studies necessary for the completion of the Eastern Section of Autoroute 30, the need also emerged to build a 3.4 km segment in the town of Candiac between Autoroute 15 and the point located on the existing Autoroute 30 to the east of boulevard Jean-Leman.
This segment, nicknamed “Jean-Leman”, was the topic of a separate impact study tabled to the ministère de l’Environnement, du Développement durable et des Parcs in December 2004. The project was then studied by the BAPE during the summer and fall of 2005, and the MTQ trajectory was approved.
Work on the Jean-Leman segment began in fall 2009.
